Exciting information about our Federation!

Name Change:

On September 17, 2017, Federation representatives and officers voted to change the
name of the federation from the Southern Ohio/Northern Kentucky Square Dancers
Federation (SONKSDF for short) to the Greater Cincinnati Dance Federation. It was felt
this represented all the dancers and clubs in our area and was easier to remember and
say. So you will be seeing a change in our website as well as with our representation at
all our state and national activities.

Federation Dangle:

We have amended the requirements for earning our Federation Dangle. It was felt that
this would make it easier for dancers to earn a dangle and hopefully will encourage
them to dance at all of the clubs in the federation. The guidelines now are the
following:

  • You must dance a total of 20 times at Federation member clubs
  • You may dance up to 3 times at any 5 clubs and 1 or 2 times at other clubs,
excluding your home club (can only be listed once)
  • A club officer or club caller must initial your form at each dance
  • Federation sponsored dances qualify–i.e. Honor Dance, Ronald McDonald
    Dance, etc.
  • Only one form is needed per couple
  • When your form is complete, give it to your Federation Representative to turn in
    at the next Federation meeting

The forms are available on the website under the tab “Forms.”

Ronald McDonald Dance:

The Federation’s annual benefit dance for the Ronald McDonald House will be held on
Sunday, November 19th, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at John Wesley United Methodist
Church. The profits from the dance and the “raffle basket” help the Ronald McDonald
House to provide a “Home Away From Home” for sick children and their families.
The raffle basket this year, put together by Peggy Carney with donations from Frontier
Squares and other clubs, contains Ohio Lottery scratch-off tickets plus $50.00 worth of
gift cards. The basket is being taken around to all the Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky
clubs prior to the dance so that everyone can have a chance to buy tickets. It will also
be at the dance where you can buy tickets at that time, plus Split-the-Pot tickets. The
winning ticket will be drawn at the dance on November 19th.

John Wesley Church is located at 1927 W. Kemper Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45240. For
information, please contact Jane Jones at 513-703-7400 or janedancer55@gmail.com;
or Peggy Carney at 513-831-1519 or carneybp@fuse.net

At the dance, you can buy your tickets plus pay your dance fee by check so that your
gift is tax deductible.
